WRPOU is a shapefile that contains water right irrigation place of use information.
The coordinate system is UTM Zone 12. Locations in the coverage have been digitized from existing maps of assorted quality including hydrographic survey maps, proof maps, and geo-referenced imagery. The maps were referenced to the UTM coordinate using the RSPLS coverage, and more recently from differentially corrected GPS positions of referenced monuments.
Information in the WRPOU layer is at present incomplete since not all existing hydrographic survey maps have been digitized and/or all polygons attributed. A large number of water right applications from 1960 to present have also not been added. This work is currently in progress as well as new adjudications which in time will make this layer current.
The Division makes an ongoing effort to maintain the database free of errors and omissions, however users of the data are responsible to verify it is suitable for their purpose. The Division appreciates and encourages users to promptly disclose any inconsistencies detected in the data to Division staff who will make every effort to correct any errors discovered.
The attribute items contained in the WRPOU layer do not represent all of the water right information available for a particular water right file. Additional attributes can be obtained either from the Water Right Information WWW Page or contacting the Division directly.
